Residential Battery Storage
Adding a battery to your solar system gives you two powerful advantages. First, it keeps your home powered through grid outages, keeping your lights, refrigerator, and essential appliances running without interruption, even when your neighbors are in the dark. Second, it lets you use more of the solar energy you produce rather than sending it back to the grid. This matters more than ever, as many utilities have reduced or eliminated fair compensation for excess solar sent to the grid, making it more valuable to store that energy for your own use than to export it.
The Tesla Powerwall 3 is SES’s first choice for residential battery storage and our most installed home battery. At 13.5 kWh with a fully integrated inverter, it is one of the most capable and cost-effective batteries on the market. The Powerwall 3 is designed specifically for solar-paired installations and delivers reliable whole-home backup capability. Tesla also offers an expansion pack to add capacity when needed. The Powerwall carries a 10-year warranty.
The FranklinWH aPower S is a compelling alternative for homeowners who want a larger battery or need generator compatibility. At 15 kWh, the Franklin aPower S system offers slightly more storage capacity than the Powerwall, and its aGate energy management module allows seamless integration with a backup generator, something the Powerwall does not support. The Franklin system comes with a 12-year warranty and is a strong fit for homeowners with higher energy demands or who want the added resilience of a generator-plus-battery setup.
