1.53 MW Frankfort Plant Board

Frankfort Plant Board has been powering the Frankfort community for generations — and in 2023 and 2025, it made a significant commitment to doing it cleaner.

The 1.53 MW two-phase installation, featuring Boviet Solar panels in Phase 1 and ZNShine panels in Phase 2, was built on a former construction-debris landfill next to FPB’s Flynn Avenue headquarters for Phase 2—turning unusable land into a productive community solar asset.

The ground-mounted ballast design accommodates the site’s shifting ground without disturbing surrounding farmland.

Together, the two phases are projected to generate approximately 3.7 million kilowatt-hours in their first year and offset nearly 87.5 million pounds of carbon dioxide over 30 years — equivalent to powering 7,300 homes for a year. For a public utility already sourcing nearly 20% of its power from renewables, this project is a major step toward the cleaner grid their community is counting on.
